Guwahati Town Club

Gauhati Town Club, which has a long history of excelling in football by winning prestigious Bordoloi Trophy and numerous front ranking tournaments of Assam and had the distinction of participating in several first class tournaments like IFA Shield, Rovers Cup, DCM Trophy, etc, in the past, is now having its professional football & cricket teams comprising of some of the best talents of the north eastern India as well as from other parts of the country and abroad.

The club has produced several cricketers who played for Assam Ranji Trophy team as well as also for East Zone teams in Deodhar Trophy, Duleep Trophy and also junior level Indian teams.

In 2010 the GTC Football team has qualified to play in the Indian National Football League – B Division under the aegis of All India Football Federation. The team has been considered as one of the top team of Assam, which participated in Assam Premier Football League organized by Assam Football Association. It is also a regular team in the Super Division League of Guwahati Sports Association.

THE CLUB , AT PRESENT HAS ADOPTED A POLICY OF YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME ABD TO ACHIEVE THAT GOIAL, HAS BEEN RUNNING 4 ACADMIES/COACHING CENTRE IN FOOTBALL, CRICKET, CHESS AND SWIMMING. In February 2010 the club has setup its residential Football Academy, VIZ. AIRTEL-GTC FOOTBALL ACADEMY, under a Brazilian Level 1 Professional coach, Juliano Silveira Fontana, assisted by Sawan Thapa, Durga Chetry and Durjoy Narzary with technical team comprising of physical trainer, dietician etc., where in 30 young boys 10-14 years age group are being trained.The club is also running GTC CRICKET CENTER FOR EXCELLENCE under NCA Qualified coaches, namely, Subinay Chakraborty, Deep Borah, Sajjad Zaheer Hussain, Sumit Nag. There are 80 cricketers in the centre ?The club is privileged to have a tie -up with a fronting ranking coaching academy of UK, viz. CITY CRICKET ACADEMY of Leicester, UK.

That apart, the club also has GTC CHESS FOUNDATION with 50 students under the tutelage of BiswajitBharadwaj and NandanBuragohain,and, GTC SWIMMING CENTRE with more than 100 young players being trained under professional trainers.

The club has ultra modern Air Conditioned State of the Art Gym, Swimming pool, indoor games hall with snooker, billiard and table tennis boards for its players and members, and, a 250 seat capacity Auditorium for holding regular cultural, quiz and other events.
